What You Can Expect With LASIK Submitted by Atlanta Vision Cataract and Laser Center on October 20, 2016
LASIK is the most common laser vision correction procedure performed at Atlanta Vision Cataract & Laser Center Center located in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Leonard Achiron has performed thousands of these procedures but understands that you will only be doing it once on YOUR eyes, and therefore would like to know what to expect.
Once you’ve scheduled your free evaluation, you will have your medical history and your eye history reviewed to see if you have had any medical problems or problems with your eyes in the past besides having the need for glasses or contacts. Then vision checked in both eyes to determine how well you are currently seeing. During the evaluation, Dr. Achiron will evaluate the external and internal areas of your eyes by performing special tests. These tests include corneal topography (mapping the surface curvature of the eye), wavefront analysis (measuring how light passes in and out of the eye), and ultrasound measurement of corneal thickness. You will not need to have your eyes dilated for any of these tests. Along with an eye exam, this full evaluation will help determine candidacy for LASIK.
If you are determined to be a candidate for LASIK vision correction, Dr. Achiron will evaluate your eye prescription(s) to determine the correct amount of vision correction needed and discuss any potential risks for your LASIK surgery. Atlanta Vision Cataract & Laser Center Center uses the latest state-of-the-art Zytopix 100 for personalized LASIK treatment. This new technology from Bausch & Lomb, allow Dr. Achiron at Atlanta Vision Cataract & Laser Center Center to plan the treatment that can correct individual visual errors and abnormalities in each eye of their patient. This allows them to program a laser with a combination of smaller and larger beams to deliver a precise treatment that is unique to each individual.

LASIK surgery is painless and the entire LASIK procedure will take about 15-20 minutes. The laser itself will actually only be used for less than a minute and before the procedure the doctor will give you anesthetic eye drops so you don’t feel the procedure.
